WORKING + WISDOM
When you need more than a mentor, but less than an agency
Do any of these sound like you?
You’re on an ‘island of expertise’ when it comes to all things marketing/communications for your organization.
You’re doing multiple jobs, one of which is marketing – which doesn’t happen to be your background.
You’re a skilled leader, with a skilled team member, but you need to get more done. You’ve thought about hiring a contractor or consultant, but you just don’t have time to manage them. And you definitely don’t have the time to manage an agency (or the budget).
And this one is true for all of us: AI only goes so far.
We have a solution.
One Partner, Many Roles
More than advice or a sounding board, you get good work done — better.

How Working + Wisdom Works
-
If your organization has already done the brand work, then we can jump straight to phase 2.
If not, we’ll dig in and work through a brand messaging process to bring insights and clarity to what your organization has to offer to whom and why they would care.
You’ll end up with a clear picture of how to convey your value to your audience in ways that connect.
-
With brand in place, we’ll move to the marketing or communications plan. (Don’t have one? We can build one!)
We’ll want to understand goals, audiences, programs/services, how success is measured, and how marketing/communications can contribute.
-
This can be liberating, but also incredibly hard. From events to newsletters, from social media to sponsorships, we’ll look at everything that’s in the plan (and probably many time-consuming activities that aren’t listed anywhere) to identify what’s working to connect you to your target audiences for measurable results.
When we find things that we can’t link to goals, we’ll investigate. If we find things that don’t seem to have any strong correlation to results, we’ll put them on hold.
-
Phase 4 can be as little as 3 months or as long as you need it to be. This is where we implement the improved marketing communications plan and specifically your role in it (if you’re on a team). As we go, we see what’s working and what isn’t, and we adapt.
This isn’t just you sharing results with me; this is coaching, a sounding board, a connection to resources, and me actually doing some of the work (as long as I’m not taking the fun stuff away from anyone!).
What do you get out of it?
A NON-BOSS BOSS
You get senior leadership without judgement. Share what you don’t know or don’t like – it’s all safe with me. Sometimes half the challenge is being the solo expert on the team, with no one else to “talk shop” with.
ACTIONABLE PLAN
Rather than an always-growing to-do list, you’ll have straightforward plan to follow, including metrics, so you can always share what you’re doing with leaders, co-workers, or the board (and prioritize the next brilliant idea).
CONSTRUCTIVE QUESTIONS
I do like to ask questions! But all of them will be centered on what’s effective. Is this on brand? Has this been shown to work? Why are you doing X instead of Y? How do we know we should invest this much money/time into this idea?
DELIVERABLES
While I’m here to be a senior sounding board, I can also do some work, too. Need an editor, a rough draft, a script, a storyboard? Need help setting up tables for the galas or signs at your trade show? From big events to short headlines, I not only offer advice and perspective, but I can also actually do the work.
BRAND MESSAGING
No more hunting around for what to say, no more inconsistencies (depending on who wrote the social post!), no more generic content from AI. You’ll have practical tools that convey your uniqueness to those who care.
PRO TIPS
I’ve been doing this for decades, and I’m connected to a lot of others in the creative world. Yes, AI can answer a lot of questions, but sometimes you need to talk to an actual person who’s been there/done that.
